A Progressive Approach to Primary Education

At Liberty Woodland School, we are committed to delivering high-quality, progressive education that balances academic rigour with individual growth. Our primary school puts children at the centre of their own learning, giving them freedom to shape what they study and making learning meaningful to them.

A progressive education does not mean expectations are lowered. Students still study the core subjects families expect, in-depth and to high standards, including English, Maths, and Science. However, it does mean that learning is connected to real questions students want to answer. Children understand the relevance and purpose of their learning across disciplines, and how they can apply their learning to the real world.

An Outdoor Primary School

Our primary school is rooted in the outdoors by design, rather than outdoor activity being solely an enrichment activity. Our expansive school grounds function as a unique, deep, and real-world learning environment where movement between the indoors and outdoors is encouraged throughout the school day.

Our School Timetable

Instead of 9am - 3pm, Monday to Friday, we operate longer days of Monday to Thursday of 8.30am until 4.40pm with no school on Friday.

At what age can my child start at Liberty Woodland School’s primary school?

At Liberty Woodland School, we accept children between the ages of 3 and 11 into our primary school:

Our new forest nursery: Children aged between 3 and 4 can join Liberty Woodland School’s forest nursery, opening in September 2027.
Our outdoor primary school: Children aged between 4 and 11 are eligible to be accepted into our primary school.

How much does it cost to attend a private primary school in London?

Fees for private primary schools in London vary depending on the school and its location. Our termly fees for primary school students start from £6,976.80. A seat on our optional minibus service costs an additional £946.

We also offer bursaries and scholarships for families who share our vision for education but need financial support.

What is the admissions process for primary school students?

Our primary school admissions process starts with an initial enquiry and visit to the school, followed by a stay-and-play session or taster day. Our admissions team will review your application alongside feedback from your taster session before offering your child a place.

Can children attending a progressive primary school still achieve strong academic results?

Yes. Our approach to primary school education is built to deliver both academic success and personal development.

Each child’s progress is tracked through our purpose-built skill ladders and benchmarked against nationally recognised standards. This provides us with an ongoing picture of academic development rather than solely relying on occasional testing.

We are proud to have achieved primary outcomes higher than the national average for the 2025/26 period:

Reception: 80% of children achieved a Good Level of Development (GLD), compared to a national average of 67.7%.
Key Stage 2: 85% working within or beyond expected standards for Mathematics, 60% for Combined Reading and Writing, and 89% for personal development assessments.
