At Liberty Woodland School, we believe education is about far more than grades. Our students grow up outdoors, immersed in a curriculum that builds curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning.

Assessment outcomes are one way of showing the progress our children make — but they sit alongside the independence, creativity, and emotional literacy our students develop every day.

Below, you’ll find our most recent reception assessment outcomes, primary assessment outcomes and secondary assessment results.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Outcomes

Our youngest learners begin their journey at Liberty Woodland School through play, exploration, and discovery. Assessments are made using the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP), which allows us to capture the progress children make across all areas of development while still protecting the joy of early childhood.

In the 2024/2025 academic year, 17 children completed the EYFS:

  • Good Level of Development (GLD): 77% of pupils achieved a GLD, compared with 68% nationally.
  • Reading: 77% met or exceeded the expected standard (National: 70%).
  • Writing: 92% met or exceeded the expected standard (National: 70%).
  • Mathematics: 92% met or exceeded the expected standard (National: 77%).

These outcomes show that our youngest children make excellent progress against national benchmarks, while developing the curiosity, independence, and resilience that will carry them into the primary phase and beyond.

Primary Assessment Outcomes

Our primary children are assessed through teacher observations, learning journals, and project-based outcomes. We compare their progress against national curriculum expectations, while keeping their curiosity, creativity, and wellbeing at the centre of our approach.

2024/25 Primary Outcomes:

  • Reading: 88% of pupils working at or above age-related expectations (National average: 73%).
  • Writing: 82% working at or above age-related expectations (National average: 71%).
  • Mathematics: 90% working at or above age-related expectations (National average: 73%).
  • Combined (Reading/Writing/Maths): 80% working at or above age-related expectations (National average: 59%).

These results show that children can flourish academically without being driven by test-prep — their learning is deep, joyful, and enduring.

2024/25 Secondary Assessment Outcomes:

At Liberty Woodland School, our secondary pupils are assessed using the MYP 1–7 scale, which maps broadly onto UK standards as follows:

  • Level 5+ ≈ Secure/Exceeding Expected Standard (roughly GCSE Grade 5–6 trajectory by Year 11)
  • Level 3–4 ≈ Developing/At Standard (comparable to GCSE pass levels)
  • Level 1–2 ≈ Working Towards

This provides a rigorous but flexible measure of progress, allowing us to capture strengths in both academic and creative disciplines.

Beyond the Numbers

Our students’ outcomes matter, but they are only one measure of success. At Liberty Woodland School, we are just as proud of the confidence, independence, and compassion our children develop. Their ability to collaborate, to problem-solve, and to think creatively will serve them long after assessments are over.
