Our school logistics are designed around working for the modern world and for our families.
Instead of 9am - 3pm, Monday to Friday, we operate longer days of Monday to Thursday of 8.30am until 4.40pm with no school on Friday. This not only allows children the time to deeply engage with their learning but also reduces travel time to and from school and allows parents to have longer working days with their children at school until 5pm.
We run our days with approximately 30% dedicated to core skills (Literacy, Maths and Environmentalism), 30% dedicated to project-based learning and 40% dedicated to specialist learning/intellectual experiences and play.
Children begin the school day with a community meeting within their class group. This is an opportunity to support children so that they are ready, receptive and in the right headspace to be fully present for learning. This is also a time to deal with conversations around expectations, academic challenges, character habits and events in the community or children’s lives. By creating these daily open dialogues with our children, we not only are developing the dispositions and habits of learning that create strong learners, but children also learn how to support each other, how to be academically courageous, how to be resilient, how to persevere.
