The admissions process typically begins with an inquiry from parents, followed by a visit to the school.
This visit allows families to understand the ethos of the school, which emphasises experiential, project-based learning, emotional intelligence, and respect for individuality. Parents and prospective students get the opportunity to explore the school, meet our students and see first hand excellent and innovative teaching.
After the initial visit, parents are invited to apply for a taster day (Y1 entry and above) or a stay and play session (reception entry). Applications for a taster day need to include recent school reports and details of any ILPs. Parents are encouraged to be open about their child’s strengths and challenges to determine whether Liberty Woodland School is a supportive environment for them, to ensure the school can cater to their individual development.
Once the application is agreed, a taster day or stay and play session is scheduled which allows teachers to observe how the child interacts with their peers, engages with the curriculum, and adapts to the learning environment. The trial session is informal, focusing on ensuring that the child feels comfortable and excited about the unique learning model.
The admissions team reviews the application, trial session feedback, and discussions with parents before offering a place. As spaces are limited, early application is recommended. The school prioritises families who align with its values of holistic education and progressive learning, fostering a community of like-minded students and parents.
