Extra jumpers to be packed in backpack for really cold days

Snow boots or sturdy warm outdoor boots/ wellies

Please note

1. Ensure all extra items are clearly labelled and we advise packing them in zip locker bags which can also be used to return wet or dirty clothes at the end of the day.

2. Remember to pack plenty of spare hats, gloves and socks.

3. The best way to keep your child warm is to dress them in layers. If your child is too warm, we can then easily remove a layer.

4. It is essential that children wear a set of waterproofs every day so they can participate in all muddy and wet weather delights.

Our Recommendations

Socks and Boots... 🧦

In colder weather we recommend wellies with 2 pairs of socks. The bottom layer should be a thin cotton sock, then the top sock a thick wool or fluffy bed sock, similar to those sold next to the checkout at H&M or Heat holder socks are amazingly toasty!

Warm wellies are our recommended wellies until it’s winter, families can get 10% off online using code below.

For cold months Happy Little Soles are our recommended supplier for snow boots. See below for discounts.

Bogs child-friendly boots are perfect for wet weather days, click here for the Bogs website.

We also love Vivo Barefoot shoes. They make sustainable shoes for outdoor, activity and every day which use the best of barefoot technology to encourage healthy development. The team at Vivo have kindly provided us with a discount code which you can find below.

Hats... 🎩

A good hat is a must. Cotswold Outdoor sell a great collection of toasty warm hats.

Hands... 🧤

We have experimented a lot with gloves in the past. We suggest thick, waterproof ski gloves. We have however discovered that most children don't like the curtailment of freedom that they feel in such bulky gloves, so, alternatively, we recommend a multipack of woollen gloves such as these, available to buy online from H&M

As an alternative we highly rate Jack wolfskin gloves from Cotswold outdoor, see our Cotswold discount code below.

On very cold days, fleece or waterproof mittens on top of the woollen gloves will help keep the children's hands extra warm.
