Maths Teacher (Secondary)

Lorenzo joins Liberty Woodland School with the belief that here he can fully express his vision of mathematics as a meaningful, creative, and inspiring discipline.

Lorenzo is an Italian national who grew up in Belgium, giving him a rich blend of both cultures. He moved to London in 2018 to study Mathematics at Imperial College, initially with the intent of pursuing theoretical physics, where strong mathematical ability is essential. He completed his BSc in Mathematics in 2021 before going on to graduate with an MSc in Theoretical Physics. During his undergraduate years, Lorenzo discovered a true passion for mathematics itself and found he missed the subject deeply when his focus shifted away from it.

With extensive experience tutoring undergraduates, Lorenzo decided to pursue a Master of Education at the Royal College of Art, aiming to highlight the idea that mathematics and the natural sciences are not dull subjects but carry an aesthetic appeal that can be brought to life through thoughtful pedagogy. To put this into practice, he has spent the past year teaching mathematics in two contrasting East Sussex schools—one rural and one inner city—an experience that made him acutely aware of the strengths and challenges within mainstream education.
