Flipped Learning

We believe in the power of using young people’s increasing independence and ability to self-direct their learning. We use our Fridays, which are a day when students do not come into school to provide our students with a greater degree of autonomy over how and when they explore their subject.

Students study at their own pace on a Friday through compelling online content and other useful resources carefully curated by their class teacher. Students are then able to collaborate and share their thoughts and comments with each other through Google Classroom, with the teacher responding to questions or offering feedback using the same platform.

We highly value flipped learning for the opportunity it provides for students to take charge of their studies, think for themselves and produce original work. It can also be good preparation for university level study, where self-directed learning is the norm.
